What is fences by paramore about

It made me start crying because it is a battle. Rayvn on July 28, The room, could be in a rehab facility or a jail cell. Because the celebrities today pop in and out of rehab and jail as often as they change their underwear. But I digress. They go to rehab and jail like it's nothing but everyone knows their business. But the celebrity has to keep smiling, like everything's okay.

They can't turn back because they get so absorbed by the Hollywood Lifestyle and their going to keep making the same mistakes. And you see them in the tabloids all the time, "happy" as can be, when inside they hate themselves. Hayley's saying with the "you'll go out in style" is pretty self-explanitory. And they should stop getting pissed when the "paps" follow them around, because they're pretty much asking for it.

I don't think the "white walls" line should be taken so literally. I think it represents being surrounded with really no where to go and no way to get away. Not rehab or jail. General Comment Just been listening to this song again and it just reminds me of the Hunger Games. This is probably because I've just finished reading it and watching the film, so it's all fresh in my mind, but yeah, to me it kind of fits into the whole "Big Brother" and "celebrity" situations in The Hunger Games, especially when the tributes are being forced into the limelight.

That's really funny because I am actually reading this book and when I read the lyrics of this song I thought it was perfect to illustrate the book. Then, I looked for the meaning of the song and I saw your comment, and I thought it was quite amazing. When you read this book, you can't stop it, and you "live in the story" until you finish it Sorry for my english, I am french fraisyyy on August 17, I saw you at the Phoenix in May.

I was just wondering, heheh, ah, what inspired you to write the song, Fences? So … its, its just about the struggle of being in the business. The proof to this can be viewed here: youtube. The chorus is maybe the person is dying but is pretending to be okay and that they're smiling even though they know things may not get any better. Yeah yeah you're asking for it With every breath that you breathe in Just breathe it in" is getting results back from a test about the illness. That's what I think anyway :P.

But think a bit more outside the box Anyone who's popular with people in general. Someone who makes tons of friends more than likely isn't close to all of them, cuz majorities of people are fake, or ask a lot of a person.

Popular people sometimes get stressed out from all the attention in general, similar to that of a hollywood star, but really, she's probably referring to a boy or something in her life who has a ton of fake friends, and is probably implying that the guy is fake himself. Could just be some guy with a ton of friends, whose life isn't as "picture-perfect" as it seems to be.

Hayley said she wrote this song while taking a test or something in school I'm sitting in a room Made up of only big white walls her classroom And in the halls There are people students looking through The window in the door that little window on classroom doors Though they know exactly what we're here for the TEST Don't look up just let them think There's no place else you'd rather be it goes a lot deeper than that and im sure it means WAAAAY more than taking a test I got the idea that this was about people in an asylum.

Like, Alice from Twilight. Everyone else's description makes better sense though. The chorus demonstrates that the public's positive perception of this particular celebrity is getting destroyed or "dying".

The second verse Hayley is directly speaking to the celebrity figure and saying that she can help them create boundaries or "fences" that separate their personal life from what the public is entitled to see. The third verse demonstrates the celebrity figure rebelling against what Hayley is preaching to them - "yeah yeah well you're just a mess". Login Register Login with Facebook. Fences Lyrics I'm sitting in a room Made up of only big white walls And in the halls there're people looking through The window in the door They know exactly what we're here for Don't look up, just let them think There's no place else you'd rather Yeah, yeah well you're just a mess You do all this, big talking So now let's see you walk it I said let's see you walk it Yeah, yeah well you're just a mess You do all this, big talking So now let's see you walk it I said let's see you walk it And it's obvious that you're dying, dying.

And oh oh open wide, yeah oh oh open wide. Yeah, oh oh open wide, 'Cause you'll go out in style. Explain Request. To explain lyrics, select line or word and click "Explain". Okay correction to what I said before. I think this song means that like your on the road to become like a celebrity [well in this case].

And now you've set yourself as an expectation or like a role model like how she says "your always on display, for everyone to watch and learn from". And when she says "build your fences, set restrictions", it means like how you want to live a normal life sometimes. And like have a private life, instead of having cameras all up in your face.

But I honestly don't get what she means about going out in style. Oh wells. Add your reply. I think the part about your just a mess you do all this big talking means that some people when they become famous they lose themselves and atart acting fake and the part about its obvious your dying is about how they look on camera all perfect and beautiful but deep down inside their trus selves are dying away and soon their will be nithing left but cold perfectly pretty outershell.

Il this song sooo soo much! Its ashame demi lovato copies them too much, but its freedom of speech right? Anyway, please don't lead this into a real big argument cuz datz da last thing I want to do. I just want to let out my opinion, if you like demi good for you! Anyway, this song talks about wen ur famous, you might act realli nice nd all to the public, but realli ur just fake. Datz what I think. But you mite not be like dat at all at first, but then you get so caught up in the industry business, and begin to lose the person who you realli are.

Hehe [om goshkas, I dn't want to be a celebrity anymoreee! Insiderz] baaa-Iii bai. If fame and fortune is what you've prived yourself on all your life you'll have nothing when its gone when you want to turn back you really can't because you have nothing else left so you pretend to be happy when in reality your miserable and you realize its not all what you thought it would be before its all you had and now that there's no choice but to continue on that path it kills you slowly and painfully on the inside.

Well, what I think is basically the same as everyone. It's about someone who's famous wanting to get out of the limelight because the constant pressure is slowly killing them - whether emotionally or physically is left unsaid but the point stands - and they realise that they can't get out.

It's kind of a contradiction because they're dying from the fame but it's all they'll ever have, so they crave it too and they can't show what they feel because it'll mean bad publicity.
