His first music group was Urban Thermo Dynamics, which also included his younger brother and sister. They recorded an album in but it was shelved. It was finally released in Performed a song with Britsh artists Craig David that was only released on the radio. In September , he announced that he has adopted the name Yasiin Bey and will discontinue using the name Mos Def by the end of the year.

What I take from writers I like is their economy -- the ability to use language to very effective ends. The ability to have somebody read something and see it, or for somebody to paint an entire landscape of visual imagery with just sheets of words -- that's magical.
