The quest text, as well as many of the NPCs in town, all direct players to talk to Drognan. He resides in the eastern part of Lut Gholein. Drognan says that he has learned that the lasting darkness is a magical solar eclipse caused by the work of Claw Vipers.
To end the darkness, players must find the Claw Viper Temple somewhere out in the desert. Players can search the edges of the zone until they find the entrance to the Valley of Snakes. There are two levels to the Claw Viper Temple, so players will need to find the entrance to the second level, which can take a while due to the randomized nature of the maps.

Or, store the amulet in the Stash until the complete Horadric Cube recipe in Diablo 2: Resurrected for the Horadric Staff has been found. Once all three pieces have been located, put the amulet and shaft in the Horadric Cube and press transmute.
