Can you retrofit isofix ford focus

Ford garage should do it for you. Don't think there is another way of fixing the base. I have a friend whi works for Ford and when buying our car he said they could fit the bars if a car we chose didn't have them already x x.

You can get the isofix done at a ford garage We've just bought a focus which didn't have it and they've fitted it for us on both sides x. You can fix certain isofix bases to your car using the seat belt i think the easyfix does this x. JumpingJellyfish Group Owner. We had a 09 plate car at the time, but I know a friend who installed it themselves on a slightly older model of focus, failing that, you can buy belted bases - which you would need as the focus seat belts are notoriously short.

My friend belted an isofix base into her focus with no issues x. We had a focus when dd was due and retrofitted the isofix bracket. Use an M8 bolt with a washer or an M8 bolt with a wide head.

Drill and tap an M10 thread where M8 holes are located. Note that high tensile steel bolts should ideally be used.

No torque setting is given by Ford for the ISOFIX base, but the torque setting for seat belt holder bolts is 38Nm — this can be set using a torque wrench. Note that it is unknown if M8 bolts would provide sufficient strength under crash conditions. I got ones from eBay with an allen key head. I chose to swap out these bolts with ones from the back of the car seat, which have torx heads.

This allowed the correct torque to be set. Travelling at 80MPH a mass of about 30kg would create a force of about N kg. Seating Torque for a Not sure I understand the question. This guide is about installing the ISOfix tether retrospectively.

Hi I have a fiesta Zetec 03 plate but my self and the parts guy at ford could Not find the rubber grommets you where talking about We lifted up the boot mat behind the seat and nothing was there Do you have to remove the seat to expose the grommets? The rubber gromits are cabin side and not boot side.

I removed the top part of the rear seat to access the gromits. Thanks for the guide. Just successfully installed isofix kit in Mk1 Focus. One additional comment that may be helpful — only able to fix on the right hand back seat, took the left rear seat off to discover a seat belt attachment in the way.

Simple enough. Thanks for highlighting. I never looked at the other side, and installed on the passenger side by default, for pavement access. I installed isofix on a 3d focus.

Bought the isofix 21 euro and used 2 screws from the back seat because the isofix screws were bigger than the holes. Is it safe to leave it as it is now and replace the 2 missing to the seat or should i replace the 2 T40 on the isofix now with other, with a wider head maybe?? Thank you. Hi, thanks for this guide. I was wondering if anyone knew where to buy replacement m8 bolts, so that I can revert to having the back seat secured with all four bolts?

Anyone have the ford parts number, or know where to get them? Thank you for taking the time to post this. It might be a 20 minute job to install the bracket, but posting the photos and writing the instructions takes a lot longer. As others people here said, it is working. I can not bring other comment or advice but I would like to thank you to have created this post!

ISOfix was not fitted as standard in the Ford Focus Mk1 model, however, the mounting holes do exist under the rear seats to enable retrofitting, This post is a quick guide for the easy retrofitting of an ISOfix bracket to a Ford Focus Mk1, in this case, a model.

I did this to an Audi of ours. As above, if the mounting points are in your car then no problem. If not the ISOFIX brackets will have nothing to be fixed to and the parts department probably shouldn't even sell you the part. Krikkit 22, posts months. Engineer1 10, posts months. As long as it's using decent parts i. LeoSayer 6, posts months. In the past, an Audi main dealer refused to do this work due to the potential liability if they get it wrong and the car was in an accident. As above, simple to do yourself.

Only time it may be an issue is if it was an option which had to be 'welded in' - though this is unusual. On my I didn't think ISOfix was a possibility, as it's such an old car.

But it was, and it was dealer-fit only on later models. Anyone managed this in a pre BMW E39?
